MY Story
My name is Roberto Lopez Menendez and I was born in 1976 in San Salvador, El Salvador and are certified by the F.E.I Coaches System. I have over 30 years experience and have been around horses for most of my life, as I come from a horse family. My father, Bernardo Lopez Davidson was an F.E.I. judge and course designer, and has judged some of the most important jumper competitions including CSI events at Spruce Meadows, La Silla Monterrey, Stadium Jumping Palm Beach, and many more all over Europe and Latin America. In addition, we have been avid breeders of Hannoverian horses for over 30 years and I was fortunate to be exposed to the quality of horses that resulted from my father’s breeding program.
Throughout my life, I have acquired knowledge riding with several different top class trainers including Raul De Leon, Pablo Gamboa, Alberto Guasch (coached the Mexican Olympic Equestrian Team) and my brother, Bernardo. Bernardo is a successful trainer back home in El Salvador and has represented El Salvador in numerous events. Bernardo went to Long Island, New York to train at the Long Island Equestrian Institute with Raul De Leon (a student of the great Bertalan De Nemethy) and graduated from his training program.
Raul De Leon emphasizes the training of horse and rider utilizing the classical training principles. Having brought these principles with him, Bernardo transferred all his knowledge to me, concentrating on building a solid training foundation through gymnastic exercises on the flat, or dressage, and over jumps. Although, the goal for Bernardo and I was to excel as show jumpers, we never compromised the classical training principles and worked mostly to create a quiet, supple, and obedient horse.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a responsible, professional, and friendly environment to train your horse and yourself. As devoted advocates of the classical training principles we are dedicated to endorsing the highest safety standards, sound horsemanship and etiquette, and the correct and systematic training of horse and rider.
Vision
Our vision is to create a learning culture where horse and rider are able to grow in mind, body, and spirit, while maintaining the integrity of the sport. This will allow us to become role models of fair, educated, and civilized treatment of sport horses and riders in order to promote these principles to the general public.
